Disclaimer – Not Financial or Tax Advice | DriverCalc
Important Legal, Financial, and Tax Clarifications
1. Not Tax Advice
The standard tax reference rates displayed within DriverCalc (such as the Internal Revenue Service standard mileage rate in the US, CRA automobile allowance rates in Canada, or HMRC mileage allowances in the United Kingdom) are provided purely for comparison and context.
Tax treatment for independent delivery drivers and rideshare operators varies significantly depending on whether you file as a sole proprietor, limited liability entity, microempreendedor individual (MEI in Brazil), or self-employed sole trader. Standard mileage rates may have caps, require contemporaneous written logs, and exclude certain vehicle categories. Always consult a certified public accountant (CPA), registered tax preparer, or legal professional in your jurisdiction before claiming deductions on tax returns.
2. Vehicle Costs Are Estimates
Vehicle depreciation, fuel consumption, tire wear, and maintenance expenses vary widely based on vehicle make, model, age, odometer reading, driving habits, regional road conditions, and ambient weather. The default rates in DriverCalc are generalized baseline approximations. You are strongly advised to audit your own real vehicle repair receipts and fuel consumption logs to determine your exact per-mile or per-kilometer expenses.
3. Non-Affiliation with Gig Platforms
DriverCalc is completely independent. It is not affiliated, endorsed, sponsored, or certified by DoorDash Inc., Uber Technologies Inc., Lyft Inc., Maplebear Inc. (Instacart), Delivery Hero, Just Eat Takeaway, Glovo, Deliveroo, Amazon, or any of their parent companies, subsidiaries, or affiliates.
4. Platform Acceptance Rates & Metrics
Deciding to reject or skip unprofitable delivery offers may affect platform-specific acceptance metrics, tier statuses (such as DoorDash Top Dasher or Uber Pro), or scheduling access. Drivers are solely responsible for managing their individual platform accounts and metrics.
